Clear the Shelters: August 18th

News

If you’re looking to add a new member to your family, you don’t want to miss a pet adoption drive that will you give the opportunity to choose around 100 cats and dogs to take home.

Local 33 will be joining forces with NBC for the annual “Clear the Shelters” event which will take place at Camp Bow Wow Baton Rouge Saturday, August 18th.

“We are so excited about this opportunity,”  said Patrick Ransom, from Camp Bow Wow. “We’re always so big on giving back to the community.”

According to the “Clear the Shelters” website, more than 3 million cats enter shelters every year.

If you’re interested in giving dog or cat a new home, there will be representatives from several animal rescue agencies to help you by showing you sizes, breeds, and temperaments.

“[The animals] are going to come with all their vaccination records and what they’ve had and what they need,” said Ransom. “We are also going to have one of our sponsors do free micro-chipping and things like that.”

If you’re not interested in adopting an animal, our station could still use your help by reaching out to the “Old Time Farm Supply” in Gonzales.

They are currently organizing a “Fill the Truck” fundraiser where you can donate items for pets and pet owners.
