Clear the Shelters – Dante’s Hope

Mark your calendars. We’re only a few weeks away from Local 33’s annual Clear the Shelters nationwide pet adoption day. It all happens on Saturday, August 18th from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Camp Bow Wow . Camp Bow Wow is located at 7195 Pecue Lane in Baton Rouge.

There are multiple shelters taking part in this pet adoption day. One of the shelter’s involved is Dante’s Hope, an animal rescue located in Baker, Louisiana.

Kelly Parrish is the President and Founder of Dante’s Hope and explains how this rescue holds a special place in her heart. Before Dante’s Hope was founded, Parrish visited an animal shelter and crossed paths with a dehydrated and sick standard poodle. Long story short, she brought him home. Parrish named the poodle “Dante” and after 14 months of smiles and tears, he lost a battle with cancer.

“So when he passed we decided to form our own rescue, and we named it Dante’s Hope,” said Parrish.

Now Dante’s Hope is home to a wide variety of dogs in search for their forever home. Dante’s Hope is a strictly foster based organization, so all the animals are placed in loving homes until they can find a permanent family to love and care for them.

” We love our animals, we have a lot of volunteers that work tirelessly to help us place all the dogs in homes,” said Parrish, and they’re always needing more foster families.

If you interested in adopting a furry friend, you can come out to Camp Bow Wow on August 18th. Dante’s Hope, alongside other shelters, will be waiting to help you and your family find a loving new addition.
