East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court Doug Welborn has announced that the parish is in need of commissioners to work at polling precincts on Election Day. New precincts will soon be added for the first time in several years and the pool of commissioners should grow with the additions.
“We are always seeking new commissioners, but the addition of the new locations puts us in more of an active search mode,” Welborn said. “With the next two years of elections very busy starting this fall, we want to ensure that all of our precincts are well-staffed and ready to go.”
Detailed information will be released soon about the precinct updates but the Elections staff is immediately planning classes for new commissioners to be held at the end of July. To become a commissioner, an individual must be an active registered and qualified voter in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Anyone interested in becoming a commissioner is asked to call the Elections Department at (225) 295-4765 or email email@example.com. Information will be provided about available class dates and locations and the registration process will be completed.
“We hope to attract new commissioners from all areas,” Welborn said. “The newly added precincts will cover many different parts of the parish and we want them all to have everything they need to process their voters as smoothly as possible.”
