The Johnston family from Lafayette scored an early LSU victory in Atlanta before checking into their hotel Friday.
Paul, Pam, Amanda and Anna Johnston spotted LSU head football coach Ed Orgeron walking into a press briefing and decided to drop their bags and wait for the legendary leader to reemerge.
About 45 minutes later, Coach Orgeron turned the corner to the Johnstons’ cheers. Orgeron answering back, “Go Tigers.”
Orgeron posed for pictures with the family and wished them a Merry Christmas before returning to his pre-game day duties.
University of Oklahoma fans waiting to meet Sooner head coach Lincoln Riley were not so lucky. Riley did not break stride on his way out of the press conference, telling one fan who brought a helmet for Riley to sign, “Not right now.”
The top-ranked Tigers and fourth-ranked Sooners face off Saturday at 4 p.m. New Orleans time in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Championship in Atlanta.
