NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — Whether or not Drew Brees returns as the New Orleans Saints starting quarterback next season comes down to a decision that is expected soon, according to Saints head coach Sean Payton.

Payton appeared on a podcast Wednesday and was asked about Brees’ pending decision to return or retire.

According to Payton, he expects Brees to make an announcement after the 2021 Super Bowl.

He said he expects the decision over the next week to week and a half.

Most people suspect Brees will retire after 20 seasons in the NFL.
