“The Coast Guard rescued two people and a dog from a disabled vessel” over the weekend, according to a press release.
The Coast Guard’s 8th District was notified on Sunday evening about a boat taking on water.
A Coast Guard press release stated that at 8:05 p.m., Watchstanders were notified about a “disabled 35-foot sailing vessel taking on water with one adult, one child and a dog aboard approximately 15 miles southwest of Southwest Pass, Louisiana.”
A Coast Guard helicopter was sent to rescue the adult, child, and dog.
A little over three hours after the original call, the Coast Guard completed the rescue.
The Coast Guard commended “several good Samaritan vessels in the area and thanks the maritime community for its vigilance and willingness to assist mariners in distress.”
