DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) – In January of 2020, Smokin’ Aces BBQ opened in Denham Springs.

Fast-forward a little two and a half years and the well-known restaurant has closed its doors.

The message came via social media last week and it pointed out how the BBQ spot opened right before COVID-19 changed how businesses served the community.

Despite the lockdown, Smokin’ Aces BBQ said they “managed to stay open thanks to a lot of to go orders and plenty of neighborhood deliveries.”

So what made the restaurant owners consider closing?

According to Smokin’ Aces BBQ, “rising prices of meat and goods” was to blame for the shuttering of the business.

The local community was quick to react to the closure of this Denham Springs BBQ restaurant.

Tina Marie of Baton Rouge said that “This is so sad! This was our FAVORITE BBQ place. Y’all have the best!! Sorry to see y’all go.”

That was common sentiment seen on social media over the last few days.

Racall Daniell mentioned how she will miss the mac and cheese, greens and chicken wings.

Daniell said “everything was delicious.”

Ricky Blackwell regretted not making one more purchase before the restaurant closed its doors, “We usually went once a week since it opened and became friends with the employees. Wishing the best to all. I should have stocked up on the to go BBQ sauce.”

The social media message from Smokin’ Aces BBQ closed with this message, “We gave it all we had and tried to show Denham Springs what good traditional BBQ was all about. Thank you to all our staff and loyal guests.”
