Contractor dies after recent incident at BASF site

GEISMAR, La. (BRPROUD) – On Friday, two contractors working at the BASF site were transported to a hospital after “potential exposure “to an inert substance.”

The company where the contractors worked is confirming that one of those employees has passed away.

A statement from the Zachry Group can be found below:

“We can confirm that one of the two employees injured in Friday’s incident has passed away. Zero incidents for our employees is always the goal. Zachry Group is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our employees, as well as the communities in which we operate. We express our sincere condolences to our employee’s family and are saddened by this loss.”

BASF has almost 2,000 employees and contractors working in Louisiana.
