BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — East Baton Rouge Metro Council member, Cleve Dunn Jr. handed out over 200 turkeys for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Dunn handed out 100 turkeys in District 6 of East Baton Rouge, and another 100 in Chauna Banks’ District 2.

Dunn and his team have been handing out turkeys annually for the past several years.

“The neighborhood I was raised in, all of us were raised in,” says Dunn. “We’ve been giving away Turkey here before I was an elected official.”

Experts are claiming that this year’s thanksgiving prices have increased by 20%, due to inflation.

Dunn knows this has caused a financial burden for many in the area. “In these times, people have financial constraints,” he says. “So even if it’s a turkey or ham or something that can help supplement the money they got to spend on Thanksgiving and put a smile on the family’s face, that’s what we intend on doing.”

The councilman’s goal is to hopefully put his neighborhood more at ease this holiday season. He wants people to get together, and to “make sure you connect with those who matter.”
