BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A grand jury chose not to indict the ride-share driver who is accused of hitting Madison Brooks the early morning of Jan. 15, District Attorney Hillar Moore confirmed on Thursday.

The driver in this case has not been publicly named.

Brooks, 19, died from her injuries at a hospital after being hit by a car on Burbank Drive. Officials said her BAC was .319% and she had trauma consistent with rape after a night out at Reggie’s in Tigerland.

Four were arrested in the death investigation: Casen Carver, 18; Kaivon Washington, 18; Everett Lee, 27; and a 17-year-old unnamed minor. Washington and the 17-year-old were charged with rape.

According to an affidavit, the suspects dropped Brooks off at a subdivision near where she was later found.

This week, Washington was formally charged by grand juries in three separate rape cases in East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes. Carver, who investigators said was driving the car Brooks got into, was indicted on first- and third-degree rape charges earlier this month.
