PLAQUEMINE, La. (BRPROUD) – An investigation into an alleged drug dealer led to the seizure of around 6.45 grams of cocaine, 7.59 grams of crack cocaine, 41.43 grams of methamphetamine and 99.49 grams of marijuana in Iberville Parish. The investigation centered around Traveon Hawkins, 30, of Maringouin.

Hawkins was taken into custody on Friday, Feb. 17 and charged with these crimes:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

IPSO said this is not the first time that Hawkins has been arrested by deputies. According to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi, Hawkins was arrested previously on drug charges and other felonies.

Hawkins was booked into the Iberville Parish Jail and subsequently bonded out after posting $90,000.

The Maringouin Police Department worked with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office on this case.

Stassi said they “will continue to go after drugs and drug dealers because of the influx of fentanyl into every type of drug being sold in the parish.”
