ST. HELENA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A Denham Springs woman accused of killing a transgender woman in the summer of 2020 pleaded no contest to manslaughter.
According to the 21st Judicial District, Lynette Muse, 37, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, which was suspended. She’ll serve three years of probation.
Muse and another Denham Springs native were indicted by a grand jury almost four months after the body of Shakie Peters, 32, a transgender woman, was found, Livingston Parish News reported. The newspaper reported that Peters was shot “several times” before being left on the roadway on June 29. Her body was found July 1.
