BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A man accused of killing and dismembering his wife in 2011 was found guilty Friday. The jury deliberated for about two hours before reaching a guilty verdict.
Oscar Lozada was convicted of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice for the death of West Baton Rouge teacher Sylviane Finck Lozada. Lozada was accused of strangling his wife, then sawing up her body before putting her in buckets with cement and disposing of the remains in water along the I-10 toward New Orleans.
The trial began on Monday.
Lozada’s sentencing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 3.
