LIVINGSTON PARISH, La (BRPROUD) – Cynthia Perkins will spend the next 41 years in prison after being formally sentenced on Friday.
On Monday, Perkins accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to second-degree rape, production of child pornography, and conspiracy of mingling harmful substances.
Perkins did apologize to her family and the victims.
The court heard from family members and a written impact statement from the victims was read in court.
Perkins was taken into custody by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Perkins was facing 72 charges of various sex crimes, and by taking this plea, she agrees to testify against her estranged husband and former deputy Dennis Perkins. She filed for divorce in 2019.
