Serious crash with injuries shuts down George Lambert Road in St. Amant Wednesday morning

ST. AMANT, La (BRPROUD) – Serious injuries were reported after people including children had to be rescued from a vehicle submerged in water early Wednesday morning in Ascension Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

An LSP spokesperson says, the crash took place on George Lambert Road near Highway 429.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 3:15 a.m. when a mother lost control of her vehicle.

APSO says, “the sheriff believes she tried to overcorrect and went into the water.”

The vehicle was carrying a mother, two children and another passenger.

The children are ages 3 and 4.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the “passenger was able to get out of the car, climb on the roof and call authorities.”

Multiple first responders were called to the scene including:

  • Sorrento Fire
  • Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office
  • Louisiana State Police

The mother and two children were transported to a local hospital.

Those who suffered serious injuries are being “being taken to a hospital in Baton Rouge.”

George Lambert Road is now back open.

The investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
