Deputies investigating Zachary home invasion, shooting

ZACHARY, LA. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) –

The Louisiana Department of health confirmed they are investigating the Andover Community Home from a “licensing perspective.”

EBRSO confirms the suspect lives at Andover Community Home, a few houses down from where the homeowner lives. As of this morning, “the suspect that was shot remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition.”

Investigators in this case still have to interview everyone but are not able to do so at this time because of the suspect’s medical condition.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, “detectives will ask that a mental evaluation be performed on the suspect at some point.”

There have not been any charges filed in this case.

Deputies responded a home invasion and shooting at the 22200 block of Sutter Lane in Zachary early Sunday morning.

Deputies interviewed the homeowner who said he opened the back door and was confronted by a man who was completely nude.

Deputies say the homeowner armed himself and gave the man several warnings.

The man forced his way into the residence, was shot by the homeowner and taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
