DoRight4LA Winner: Oak Grove High’s Zach Hegwood


Each month, FOX 44 joins with the LHSAA to tell the stories of sportsmanship here in Louisiana high school athletics. This month’s winner comes to us from Oak Grove High School.

Zach Hegwood is a freshman shooting guard for Oak Grove Tigers, where he plays both basketball and football. Despite his athleticism, he’s being recognized for his generosity on the court.

It’s not a winning three-point shot, and it’s not a drive through the lane for a dunk; it’s a memory for he and his community — one he’ll remember above any award.

During a junior varsity basketball game between Oak Grove and Jonesboro-Hodge, Hegwood passed the ball to Tyreek Sly. The only thing different about that pass? Sly plays for the other team…
