DOTD aiming for new traffic light timing plan on LA 1 by early next year

Emergency repairs to Intracoastal Bridge complete; both southbound lanes reopen

BRUSLY, La. (BRPROUD) – Have you traveled down LA 1 as of late and felt like traffic is just off?

No, I am not referring to the normal afternoon backups heading towards Baton Rouge.

I am talking about the timing of the traffic lights on LA 1.

While not sure if this is the reason for the timing issues, an oversized load recently caused damage to some of the sensors, according to DOTD.

Those sensors have been repaired and DOTD has a new timing plan in mind.

The state agency will “routinely cycle through corridors every few years to check timing to see if anything needs to be modified to accommodate new development and changing traffic patterns,” according to DOTD.

DOTD is aiming to have that timing plan including programming and equipment in place sometime in February of 2022.
