CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) – Motorists in Central are waking up to some good news on Monday morning.

The traffic light at the intersection of Hooper Rd. and Blackwater Rd. is fixed thanks for the efforts of a DOTD crew.

The light was back in service a little before midnight.

Central PD says a “DOTD crew from New Orleans located and fixed the problem.”

Earlier on Sunday, the Central Police Department provided details about the situation in this post:

The traffic light at the intersection of Hooper Road and Blackwater Rd is still out in all directions. Please use the intersection as a 4-way stop. The Police Department has contacted DOTD several times and they will not bring STOP Signs. They advised it would be a liability on DOTD. It is unknown when this situation will be fixed. Entergy advises there is a short underground on the corner nearest to the Life Tabernacle property. DOTD is once again on scene. With no power to the light, the signal cannot be put on flash. We are on scene trying to come up with a solution. We ask our citizens to please slow down and stop. Please use as 4-WAY STOP. Please Drive Safe. We will be giving updates when we get news.
