BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was transported to a local hospital in stable condition after an early morning shooting on West McKinley Street.

The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed that a 27-year-old man was killed in the shooting which took place at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Monday, May 22.

The coroner’s office identified Tony Sawyer as the victim killed in the shooting.

BRPD also confirmed that an altercation led to the shooting.
