Duo arrested in connection with several business burglaries in the area

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and Baton Rouge Police Department investigated multiple business burglaries over a span of ten days.

The investigation centered on robberies that took place between June 8 and June 18 on Plank Rd., Airline Hwy. and Hooper Rd.

Cigarettes and electronics were taken during these burglaries.

“It was found that a suspect vehicle in these burglaries was also linked to numerous business burglaries within the jurisdiction of the Baton Rouge Police Department,” according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department help pinpoint 58-year-old Loyd Hamilton as a suspect.

The apprehension of Hamilton by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office took place during a traffic stop on June 18.

At that time, detectives observed a vehicle “leaving the scene of a business burglary.”

Hamilton was arrested along with 47-year-old Roderick Collier.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, “multiple cartons of cigarettes and several electronic items were observed to be in the suspect vehicle.”

Additional charges from the Baton Rouge Police Department are possible in this case.
