Dutchtown High School teacher wins national teacher competition

GEISMAR, La. (BRPROUD) – Ms. Lindsay Seely teaches Environmental Science and Biology II at Dutchtown High School.

The Dutchtown High School teacher uses Geographic Information System or (GIS) while teacher her students.

According to National Geographic, GIS is “a computer system for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface.”

Ms. Lindsay recently entered a national teacher competition.

The competition was held through Esri and the Dutchtown High teacher submitted a video that showcased “how she has implemented the use of GIS technology in her classroom to further her students exposure to and education in new technological advances,” according to the Global Geospatial Institute.

The video that Ms. Lindsay Seely submitted to Esri was deemed to be a winner and the local teacher won a $500 cash prize.
