DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – A new early childhood learning and intervention center is on the way to Ascension Parish.
The new center is going to take the place of the old West Ascension Elementary School.
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, “The school will be torn down by next week, and the site will be turned into an early intervention and learning center.”
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office owns the property and decided against turning it into a juvenile detention center.
APSO says, “they decided to put something there that would enhance young lives in this underserved area rather than set them up for failure.”
The new early childhood learning and intervention center is made possible through the efforts of these organizations:
- Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office
- Ascension Parish Government
- Ascension Parish School Board
- Ascension Parish Library
The early intervention and learning center will be located at 1200 St. Patrick St.
