BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — It’s that time of year when city-parish leaders try to help families for the Thanksgiving holiday.

East Baton Rouge Mayor Pro Tempore Lamont Cole in partnership with other community members is hosting a giveaway at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The giveaway will be on a first-come, first-served basis while turkeys last. Along with the turkeys, sides will be given away with sides as well as raffles and door prizes.

Cole said this event is about bringing the community together at a time when everyone can use some help.

“At this time of year, it amazes me that with so much food in this country, we have people and families who go hungry, so we try to provide that for them,” said Cole.

The giveaway is scheduled to start at noon. The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center is located at 4000 Gus Young Avenue.
