The East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court’s office closed Tuesday and is expected to remain closed through Friday, April 10 due to COVID-19 concerns.

An executive order halted all prescriptive periods for legal matters, according to the office’s public information officer, Fred Sliman.

All operations of the Clerk of Court’s office are closed, except for emergency filings, such as petitions for temporary restraining orders. Such filings will be accepted in the 19th Judicial Courthouse at 300 N. Blvd from 8 a.m. until noon on weekdays.

The Airline Highway branch office will be open from 8 a.m. until noon on weekdays solely to submit documents that need to be recorded. There will be no admittance to the building, according to Sliman.

The office will handle recording work in a drive-up capacity. Customers can wait while recordings are proceeded, or they can receive recordings via mail.
