BATON ROUGE, La. (BrProud) — The East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority (EBRPHA) will assemble and deliver beds for children in Zion Terrace, an EBRPHA housing community, on Wednesday, July 15, starting at 1:30 p.m.
Earlier this year, EBRPHA identified 50 children living in EBRPHA housing communities without a bed. According to EBRPHA, these children were doubling up with other siblings, sleeping on a sofa or the floor.
“We know that children need adequate sleep for health, wellness, and optimal learning,” said J. Wesley Daniels, Jr., EBRPHA Chief Executive Officer.
More than $20,000 was raised over the past few months through fundraising efforts by EBRPHA’s affiliate non-profit, Partners Southeast.
A team will assemble the beds, install drawers under the beds, and equip the bed with pillows and bedding supplies. Zion Terrace located 5958 Cadillac St in Baton Rouge.
