River Center Branch Library’s temporary location in the Kress Building at 447 Third St. in Baton Rouge will close at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, and will remained closed to allow staff to move all collections to the new permanent location at 250 North Blvd.
According to East Baton Rouge Parish Library officials, the opening date for the new River Center Branch has not yet been finalized.
“Work continues on the punch list and a number of support systems are still being brought online. In addition, the Library collections must be moved from the temporary site and from storage, and shelved in the new building,” a recent East Baton Rouge Parish Library press release stated. “Issues related to furniture deliveries for the new building also are having an impact on determining the opening date.”
Once there is significant progress had been made on toward the completion of the new library and all systems, an opening date will be set.
