BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – East Baton Rouge Parish and Iberville Parish are working together to improve drainage in their parishes.

Mayor Broome and President Ourso have put together a proposal that will need to be approved by the EBR Metro Council and Iberville Parish Council.

The Cooperative Endeavor Agreement centers around making drainage better “along Bayou Manchac at the border of the two parishes.”

“The leaders of East Baton Rouge, Iberville and Ascension Parishes are stepping up to bring meaningful drainage improvements to our citizens,” said Mayor Broome. “President Ourso and I believe a regional approach benefits all of our communities.”

So how would it make drainage better between the two parishes?

The agreement would allow for the clearing and snagging of “Bayou Manchac from Highway 30 to the Alligator Bayou Flood Control Gate.”
