EBR coroner reports another death due to COVID-19

An 81-year-old man is the 12th East Baton Rouge Parish resident to die because of the coronavirus.

East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner “Beau’ Clark confirms that one person died in the last 24 hours because of this virus.

The elderly man entered the hospital on March 23 and passed away seven days later.

That means 12 East Baton Rouge Parish residents and 1 person from Mississippi have died because of the coronavirus, according to the EBR coroner.

EBR coroner William “Beau” Clark released this statement about the most recent victim:

My office worked one confirmed COVID-19 related death over the past 24 hours. On March 30, 2020, my office investigated the death of an 81 year old male, who had presented to the hospital on March 23, 2020. He was tested for COVID-19. That test was positive. He died on March 30, 2020, and was a resident of Baton Rouge, La. Co-morbidities were present.
