34 people have now died due to the coronavirus in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Five more people have died since this same time on Monday.
The ages of the latest victims ranged from 56 to 91.
EBR Coroner William “Beau” Clark released this statement about the most recent victims:
My office has five more confirmed COVID19 related deaths to report.
During the last 24 hours, my office has investigated the deaths of five East Baton Rouge Parish residents. All were tested
and were found to be positive for the COVID19 virus. Some of these cases had been awaiting test results:
o A 56 year old female, who was admitted to an area hospital on 3/27/2020. She died on 4/6/2020.
o A 63 year old male, who was admitted to an area hospital on 3/27/2020. He died on 4/6/2020.
o A 79 year old male, who was admitted to an area hospital on 3/27/2020. He died on 4/6/2020.
o A 91 year old male, who was seen at an area hospital on 4/2/2020, but died at home on 4/3/2020.
o A 69 year old female, who was admitted to an area hospital on 3/27/2020. She died on 4/5/2020.
Each of the above patients had co‐morbidities present.
This brings our total COVID19 related confirmed deaths to 32 East Baton Rouge Parish residents, and 2 deaths of out of
state residents (both from the Woodville, MS area) at Baton Rouge area hospitals.
Our condolences are extended to the families and friends of those lost to this disease.
