BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Anyone interested in careers related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and solar industries can now receive training from a new program offered by the East Baton Rouge (EBR) Library.
EBR Libraries announced Monday (August 29) that its new partnership with a company called Interplay Learning will provide residents with career training via a digital classroom that utilizes VR equipment.
This revolutionary way of training people to become job-ready makes use of Virtual Reality Simulations, which can be provided in 3D with a VR headset or in 2D with a computer or tablet.
If you’re new to virtual reality via headsets and you’re not sure what to expect, it typically involves putting on a headset that allows you to see and hear a simulated environment. The virtual world is created by computer technology.
To illustrate, when we go to the movies and look at a large screen straight ahead, we’re watching a virtual world unfold in 2D.
But with a headset on, it’s as if the movie screen is everywhere. You turn around and the screen is still there. It’s 3D, and makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a new world.
Using this 3D technology, educational courses will be offered at the EBR Library and will include classes related to the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, solar, and facilities maintenance arenas.
Interplay Learning was founded in 2016 and is known as the leading global provider of online and VR training for essential skilled trades.
