News

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A little before 1 a.m., the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office responded to the Walgreen’s on Perkins Rd. and Siegen Ln.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, “an anonymous caller stated that she was in the parking lot across the street at Jack in the Box and observed three subjects in an older model truck attempting to steal the ATM from inside Walgreens.”

A deputy arrived at the scene and found damage to the store and the ATM lying in the parking lot.

EBRSO says the front window of the Walgreen’s was heavily damaged and “the ATM was lying in the middle of the parking lot with two large red straps attached.”

A witness was able to get a picture of the truck which was allegedly used in the attempted ATM theft.

According to the witness, “the suspects then got back into the truck and were last seen headed towards Essen Ln. on Perkins Rd.”

A search of the area by deputies was unsuccessful as the truck avoided detection.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, “In the video, an older model, dark in color General Motors style pick-up with a gray panel at the bottom can be seen pulling away from the scene, leaving the ATM on the ground.”

The suspects did not get away with any money.

The investigation remains ongoing.
