BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Two people were shot just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28 in the 7400 block of Maplewood Drive.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says the two victims, a 16-year-old male and a 25-year-old male, went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries on their own.

According to official arrest documents, Jarrius Snearl, 20, shot both victims then sped off and hit a car parked in the neighborhood. Snearl was caught when deputies saw him trying to take off the license plate while he was armed, according to the arrest documents.

Snearl was charged with attempted first-degree murder, hit and run, aggravated flight from an officer, obstruction of justice – aggravated assault and resisting an officer.

The investigation remains ongoing.
