BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called to a reported shooting around 2 a.m. on Monday, August 15.

The shooting took place at a home located near Siegen Ln.

Deputies arrived at a home in the 1200 block of Briarrose Dr. after a shooting victim claimed that “his brother shot him in the leg,” according to the affidavit.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that the victim had actually been shot in the groin.

The shooting victim’s brother was later identified as Kevin Cundiff, 21, of Baton Rouge.

Emergency responders said that the shooting victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Detectives caught up with the victim at the hospital.

“The victim stated that Kevin Cundiff was waving a gun around when the gun was discharged striking him in the groin,” according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.

Prior to the gun discharging, the victim said he and his brother had been in a verbal argument.

Deputies subsequently detained Kevin Cundiff and questioned him about what happened inside the home on Briarrose Dr.

Cundiff said he and “the victim have physically fought in the past which resulted in him getting injured,” according to the affidavit.

This morning, a verbal argument took place between the two brothers and Cundiff said he locked himself in a bedroom.

According to the affidavit, “the victim knocked on his door, Cundiff then unlocked the door, opened the door, shot his brother ‘in the nuts’ and told his brother “if your try and come in my bedroom again, I will shoot you again.”

Cundiff said the gun was provided by his neighbor “for his protection.”

Kevin Cundiff was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The 21-year-old was charged with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
