BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – ExxonMobil reported a leak at their ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Chemical Plant on Monday, June 1.

According to the multinational oil and gas corporation, “some employee and contractor personnel at both ExxonMobil and Albemarle have reported potential exposure to liquid sulfuric acid as a result of the release.”

ExxonMobil was able to isolate the leak and the Baton Rouge Fire Department provided assistance by monitoring the quality of the air from outside the facility.

Exxon Mobil states that “the direction of the wind and non-detectable reports from fence line monitoring suggest that the release was contained to ExxonMobil and the neighboring industrial facility.”

ExxonMobil Baton Rouge notified all the appropriate agencies about the leak.
