BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – August 29 is a day many in Louisiana will always remember because of three storms that made landfall on that day.

Hurricanes Katrina, Isaac, and Ida all left a lasting impression on the state and left Entergy will a lot of work to do.

Thankfully, there was no hurricane on that date this year, but Entergy is prepared anyways.

The energy company is ready for a storm, especially when it comes to how long it might take to restore power after a storm rolls through.

Entergy says that “before a hurricane makes landfall, we make estimates based on category, intensity, size and track of the storm.”

With that in mind, Entergy is providing estimates for how long it will take to restore power based on the category of the hurricane.

Those estimates can be found below:

  • Category 1 – 7 days
  • Category 2 – 10 days
  • Category 3 – 14 days
  • Category 4 – 21 days
  • Category 5 – over 21 days

If you are looking to get ready in case you do not have power for days, Entergy suggests making a kit.

Along with preparing, customers should pack their patience as everything from a slow-moving storm to dangerous conditions for lineworkers can delay power being restored in your area.
