BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Entergy Louisiana wants to continue upgrading the electric grid for customers, but the upgrade may cause an increase in customer’s bills.
The filing states the company asked the Louisiana Public Service Commission to approve a proposed increase. The increase would cover the expenses needed for Entergy to upgrade and strengthen the electric grid to provide reliable and affordable services to customers in the future.
Entergy asked for $173 million over a three-year period starting in September 2024.
In the filing, the increase in monthly bills for residential customers would increase by about $13.92. Small business customer’s monthly bills would increase by about $3.10. Commercial Entergy customers could see an increase of about $1,007.35 per monthly bill.
Entergy said in the filing that despite the increase, the company will continue to maintain electric rates under the national average.
