NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — One of New Orleans most popular festivals announced dates for a virtual experience this year after the event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Essence Fest sent a tweet Wednesday night announcing that the virtual festival will span over two weekends.

“Essence Fest has been a space to gather, raise our voice, discuss the issues that matter most. It’s needed and necessary especially NOW. Join us virtually for two back to back weekends Thursdays thru Sundays, June 25-28 & July 2-5. Stay tuned for more news,” the tweet read.

On its website, Essence said the experience will be extended to communities around the world like never-before, allowing women and their families to engage in interactive, live opportunities.

Essence organizers said they will continue to do everything they can to serve the community during this time.
