Essence Fest organizers announced they are canceling its New Orleans event for 2020
NEW ORLEANS (WDSU) — Essence Fest organizers announced Wednesday morning that the New Orleans event will cancel for 2020 at the recommendation of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
Organizers say all tickets will be refunded and instead, they will host a Virtual Edition of ESSENCE Festival of Culture over the July 4th weekend as a multi-day experience and benefit celebration.
On its website, Essence said the experience will be extended to communities around the world like never-before, allowing women and their families to engage in interactive, live opportunities.
Essence organizers say they will continue to do everything they can to serve the community during this time. Ticket holders should visit www.essencefestival.com for further information.
