Fallen Slidell police officer to be honored at Louisiana Marathon

News

While runners from across the nation and across the world participate in the Louisiana Marathon on Sunday, police officers from three states will honor a fallen Slidell officer during the race.

35-year-old Jason Seals died on Sept. 25, 2018 after his motorcycle was struck while he was escorting a funeral procession.

Officer Danny Follett of Des Moines, Iowa; Sergeant Keegan Hughes of Blue Springs, Missouri; and Detective Sean Dodge of Modesto, California will run to honor Seals.

Follett will run the half marathon in full police gear, which can weigh up to 25 pounds, according to Marina Gelpi.

Hughes, Dodge and Seals’ sister will run alongside Follett.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity of honoring Jason, his department, family, and friends the best way I know how… to run,” Dodge said.
