BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Fans made it their mission to show support one last time for the LSU Lady Tigers as they headed to Dallas for their Final Four matchup. Those same fans showed off their purple and gold while showcasing their love for the team.
Baton Rouge resident Kathy Tuchet has been a fan for over two decades and said it was important for her to attend the send-off event. “I’ve had season tickets for 22 years, I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly,” Tuchet said. “We want to send the girls with a good showing. A lot of noise and cheering, they deserve to have a big crowd so we came and we’re headed to Dallas.”
Lauren Wesley also lives in Baton Rouge and she was ready for the pep rally. Wesley wore an Alexis Morris shirt to highlight her favorite player. “I just became a big fan of her and she’s a great player. And she has faced adversity, but she has overcome it and she’s just a great role model so I just wanted to show my love for her,” she said.
As the girls were congratulated one last time for making it to their first Final Four since 2008, Tuchet and Wesley would like to send them off with a good luck message.
“Just keep up the hard work and you know, fight as long as you can because it’s already a great season so it’ll be great whether or not you win the championship,” said Wesley.
“It’s been a long time and it’s awesome. It’s a wonderful experience. I’m so proud of these girls and how they put it together,” said Tuchet.
During the event, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey advised fans to still attend Dallas and show support. “If you’re not going to Dallas because of finances, and you can’t get a ticket but you want to go. I promise you, get outside that American Airlines Center, find you a bar room, and have the time of your life,” she said.
The LSU Lady Tigers are scheduled to play Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. on Friday.
