BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA/WGMB) — The Baton Rouge General Foundation will host its annual Father-Daughter Dance on Sunday, Feb 9. The theme for 2020’s dance is, “Oh! The places you’ll go!” as a nod to the popular Dr. Seuss book.

“‘Oh! The places you’ll go!’ encourages readers to create their own path and pursue their dreams,” said Baton Rouge General spokesperson Katie Johnston.

The dance began 25 years ago and started with 100 guests. Today, the event brings in more than 500 father-daughter couples, according to Johnston.

Baton Rouge resident Ty Bromell is an organizing committee member for this year’s dance. Bromell said he plans to attend the event along with his daughter, both whom stopped by the FOX 44 studios.

Outside of dancing, fathers and daughters attending this year’s event may also participate in interactive science experiments, cookie decorating, sports, contests and arts and crafts.
