A father wanted for a murder in Independence was arrested Wednesday morning in Jackson, Mississippi, days after his son was also charged in the crime.
Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards said 41-year-old Michael Ray “Mitchell” Moore was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Jackson.
Edwards said the location and arrest of Moore was the result of a multi -agency investigation conducted by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigations Division, the Louisiana State Police Fugitive Task Force, and the United States Marshals Service.
Moore was wanted on a charge of Second Degree Murder in the Homicide of 38 year-old Cedrick Baldwin of Independence,LA. that occurred on September 17.
Moore’s son, Jermichael Grayer, has been charged with obstruction of justice and principal to second degree murder. Detectives said Grayer told them he was there when his father shot and killed Baldwin. Investigators said Grayer and Moore drove to St. Helena Parish where Grayer and Moore are said to have disposed of Baldwin’s body. Detectives said after disposing of Baldwin’s body, Grayer and Moore traveled from St. Helena Parish to the location in Livingston Parish where the vehicle was set fire.
