BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Capital Area United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is now available for the 2022 tax season.
The program runs from Monday, Jan. 23 through Tuesday, April 18. This year, 29 sites are available for in-person appointments and drop-offs.
The online service, myfreetaxes.com, opened on Jan. 23 and is available for clients to complete their own taxes for free.
“VITA is important to our community population that is considered Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE),” says Senior Director of Community Impact and Equity at Capital Area United Way Delores Hurst. “Our goal is to keep the EITC credits and the tax refund monies in the pockets of those individuals and families so that they can ultimately reach financial stability.”
In order to complete taxes, the following items need to be provided:
- Photo ID (for you and your spouse, if filing jointly)
- Social Security Card
- W-2 Forms for all jobs, all 1099 and 1098 forms
- Child Care Provider name, address, and tax ID number
