Filling sandbags, mayor urges New Roads to prepare for tropical storm warning

NEW ROADS, La. (BRPROUD) – Point Coupee Parish remains under a tropical storm warning. Residents are bracing for the possible impacts from Hurricane Laura. Preparations continue all around the parish. The City of New Roads is helping their residents prepare by offering sandbags.

“We are getting sandbags out to all the residents who can’t get out of their homes or those who are over 65 or those who may be handicap. If they need us we can take the bags to them. They don’t have to come and get them,” says Mayor Cornell Duke.
