BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to 1422 North St. at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7.
BRFD says, “firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the front door of the house.”
Firefighters immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
It took firefighters less than five minutes to extinguish the fire.
A pot left on the stove is what caused the fire, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Two people, two cats and one dog were able to get out of the house unharmed.
The home sustained $75,000 in damages as well as heavy smoke damage.
BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene of the fire.
