Firefighters respond to early morning fire at popular Baton Rouge restaurant

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge firefighters responded to a building fire at a popular Baton Rouge restaurant early Monday morning.

It happened at Sushi Masa on Essen Ln. near Perkins Rd. just after 4:00 a.m. Monday.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “firefighters arrived on scene to find a small fire located on the outside of the rear of the building.”

The Baton Rouge Fire Department determined the fire was located in a trash can near the restaurant.

Firefighters quickly went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

It took firefighters a little over one hour to extinguish the fire.

The restaurant sustained $10,000 in damages as “the exterior of the building sustained most of the damage,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

There were no reported injuries as a result of this fire.

Investigators haven’t said what might have caused the fire.

EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
