First Day Back! A look at social distanced learning in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – While Louisiana remains in Phase 2 of reopening, schools in Baton Rouge return to in person learning this month.

Schools across the city shared what they are doing to teach students during a pandemic.

Here is what it looked like for some private schools on their first day:

Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School returned on August 6.

MBS Catholic School said “although they are distanced, they are returning with love.”

Students will rotate in groups to attend school in person.

The school shared on Facebook images of how they plan to keep students 6 feet apart.

Our Lady of Mercy School will return on August 10.

The Blue Jays released a video to help parents and students visualize what to expect for the 2020-2021 school year. Each student arriving at carpool will have their temperature checked before entering the building. Our Lady of Mercy School back-to-school can be found on their Facebook page.

St. Aloysius Catholic School returned August 6.

Staff at St. Aloysius practiced social distancing during a morning prayer to start off the 2020-2021 school year.

Students will rotate in groups to attend school in person.

St. Alphonsus Catholic School returned August 6.

At the elementary school, students arrived to their first day of school in proper face masks and were greeted by having their temperature taken.

St. George August Catholic School returned August 6.

Parents of St.George students shared on Facebook Thursday morning how they are getting use to face masks being part of their uniform.

St. Jean Vianney Catholic School returned August 6.

Students at St.Jean Vinnaey Catholic school came prepared with proper face coverings on their first day back for in-person learning.

St. Peter Chanel Interparochial School returned on August 6.

Reopening the school under Phase 2 meant students going back to their classrooms with desks 6 feet apart and a spaced out playground.

St.Peter Chanel’s 2020-2021 school year plan can be found on their website.

St. Thomas Aquinas High returned on August 6.

The freshmen was the only class to return in person on August 6. Upperclassmen attended their first day orientation virtually.

St. Michael the Archangel High returned on August 6.

Sophomores and Seniors went back to school on August 6 for orientation, while the Juniors and Freshmen will go back on August 7.
