A mechanical issue forced First Lady Melania Trump’s plane to return to Washington shortly after taking off Wednesday morning.
NBC News reports that press members on the flight saw Secret Service agents head toward the front of the plane about 10 minutes after takeoff.
Reporters said they noticed a thin haze of smoke and smelled something burning. They were given wet towels to hold over their faces if the smell got too strong.
The plane landed at Andrews Air Force Base and the first lady was seen deplaning around 9:30 a.m.
Trump was on her way to Philadelphia.
