DENHAM SPRINGS, La (BRPROUD) – Students in Livingston Parish are returning to school for the first time in 2022 on Monday, January 10.

Some of those students are returning to a brand new building.

Denham Springs Elementary School is officially opening its doors to all students on Monday, January 10.

This comes after a recent sneak peak at the renovated school.

The recovery process since the flood in 2016 has been a long one for local leaders, parents and students.

Over three years ago, a groundbreaking ceremony signified the beginning of a new chapter for the school.

According to Livingston Parish Schools, “The new 80,000-square-foot, two-story campus was constructed at the school’s original site of 306 N. Range Avenue, near the intersection of Centerville Street in Denham Springs.”

COVID-19 continues to be a part of the school experience for local students and Livingston Parish Public Schools have opted to continue their optional mask policy.
